By Anonymous

September 11, 2004 -- SCOLA, the leading provider of foreign language television programming in North America, is increasing its reach and availability to the Internet community via live video streaming through the new SCOLA website www.scola.org on Monday, September 13th 2004.

Francis Lajba, President of SCOLA, said “We listen very closely to our viewers, foreign language students and educators. They have been asking SCOLA for live video streaming on the SCOLA website. We think everyone will be pleased with the features available on our new website.”

Along with the capability to view live programs from other countries, an archive function is available that allows a subscriber to go back one week for any previously transmitted program and download it to their computer for viewing at any time.

The new SCOLA website will provide access to the live video streams of four 24/7 SCOLA foreign language television channels and the one week archive of television programs. It will also host the SCOLA Insta-Class service that features transcripts of selected newscasts in the original language with English translations available in 19 different languages.

Current affiliates enjoying the four SCOLA foreign language channels via satellite television can now enhance their services by using the new SCOLA website www.scola.org
SCOLA foreign language video streams are available by subscription to educational institutions

SCOLA‘s mission is to help the people of the world learn more about each other, their languages, their cultures and their ideologies through the use of modern technology. Said Lajba, “We are confident that the new SCOLA website with its video streams, and other features, will become a universal tool for foreign language educators and students of language around the world.”

SCOLA is a non-profit educational broadcasting company that transmits news and entertainment in original language from foreign countries to colleges, universities and language schools in North America.
